Queer Reading List

This page is an on-going list of sci-fi and fantasy book recommendations that feature queer characters. I’ve used the umbrella term ‘queer’ because these books will include characters who are gay, intersex, trans, asexual, bisexual, and any other categorisations I can find.

The only criteria for a book being included on this list are:

  • I enjoyed reading it
  • It’s sci-fi or fantasy in some form
  • There’s at least one queer character who plays a significant role

Where I have written a review of a book, I’ll include a link. This reading list will be added to as I find new books, so do check back for future recommendations.

I have added a searchable version of the reading list to the blog. Apply filters to identify books that have specific forms of representation. I want this searchable list to be a longer one, with contributions from other readers. If you’re interested in adding books to the reading list, let me know.
